LORD TURN YOUR FOOTSTEPS
I am a social worker by training, education, experience and perhaps DNA. My dad, the patent attorney (I could use his help on copyrights and trademarks right now), told me when I was about 15 that he thought I would make a good social worker. I had no idea what he was talking about.
The ability to train and equip people for the "works of service" is a skill set that I possess. Perhaps that is what he saw in me. That is from God. I don't have to get the credit, it just gets me all excited when I see the lights coming on for those that I share with.
Lord Turn Your Footsteps is a great song, and in my humble opinion, I believe that Martin nailed it. I love Godfrey's version, but I love Martin's rendition just as much.
But originally I wanted to sing this song. I was already familiar with LTYF when I was sent in March 2007 to Peachtree City, GA by God and Linda Smith for the Godfrey Birtill conference, but while I was there I got the backstory from Godfrey.
He explained where the song came from. Several years ago a ten year old immigrant boy, whose family had moved to Scotland, was brutally killed on his way to school. The police arrested 20 boys his age for the killing.
What struck Godfrey the most about the story was that none of the 20 had a father living in the home. You can see why, as a social worker, who has worked for over 35 years with abused and neglected, fatherless children, this song resonates so much for me.
When I got home from Georgia I was sharing all of this with Ted and Martin. They both went crazy over the song. When I heard Martin pick the song up and sing it, I knew he was the guy to take the lead with the OMWB version.
There is a passion built into this song, and Martin finds it in his voice and in his playing. Personally, I believe it is because this is one of those Holy Spirit anointed songs that perfectly joins poignant biblical lyric truth with powerful music.
Passages of scripture to consider with this tune would include Psalm 74, Daniel 7:9, Luke 24:15-28, Revelation 1:8, 21:6-13.
We would love to hear your thoughts about this song.

Verse 1:
Lord turn Your footsteps towards these ruins
We need You here...We need You here...
Our homes are broken
Our children are stolen
We need You here...We need You here....
Chorus:
Our God and King...Ancient of days...
Alpha Omega, Jesus, Saviour
Work Your deliverance in this place.
Yours is the night...Yours is the day..
No-one is greater...come Lord save us!
Work Your deliverance in this place...
Verse 2:
Lord turn Your footsteps towards these ruins
We need You here...We need You here...
In these streets filled with darkness
Our children fatherless
We need You here...We need You here...
